13 Classic Books That Are Said To Be Good And That Are Actually Good

I don't normally read classic books because there's a stigma that only old people read them, or that these types of books are only read because they are forced upon us in school. But I think that in order to be truly book literate, you must read some classic books. They are "classic" books for a reason, right? So they must be good! With that being said, they are not for everyone and I've definitely read some classics that a lot of people like, but that I actually thought were kind of meh. But don't despair if you're in that situation. There's an often old, tattered, and odd-smelling classic book waiting to become your next favorite!

*"Classic"- For this list, a book published before 2000.

1. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

2. The Catcher In the Rye by J.D Salinger

3. Moby Dick by Herman Melville

4. East of Eden by John Steinbeck

5. Animal Farm by George Orwell

6. The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver

7. Girl With The Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier

8. Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand

9. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

10. Cannery Row by John Steinbeck
11. Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse

12. The Pearl by John Steinbeck

13. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

How many of the books in this list have you read?
*I will be updating this list as I continue to read more classic books.

Keep in mind that I haven't yet read:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
..... and many many more known classic books
