- Go for a walk
Whenever I am feeling stressed, I go take a walk around my neighborhood or even just around my block. This really helps me to just concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other and walking, walking, walking. Just take a moment to breath in and out of your mouth slowly and take a look at what sourrounds you - be it the trees, how everything looks 10x greener when it just rained, the chirping birds, or the dead silence, the cars passing by, the deformed shapes of the cloud above you, or the houses that come in different sizes, colors, and styles. You can also think about what you have to accomplish for the day and practice positive thinking. Just make sure you do this with an "I can do it!" mentality.
- Drink some tea
Whenever I feel overwhelmed or am about to engage in something that makes me nervous or to calm myself down after a not so great incident has happened, I drink some hot tea. I think just having a warm mug between my hands and the hot liquid running down from my esophagus and down to my stomach, makes me feel warm and cozy. I usually drink green tea with jasmine or earl grey tea, so you may want to experiment first and see what type of tea(s) you prefer.
- Take a 20 minute to 30 minute break
There are days that I have so much work to do, but for the life of me, I just cannot imagine myself putting pencil to paper, or doing anything about anything that is school related at that moment. If I try to just power through, I am often highly distracted and I basically get no work done or have some work done but its complete crap. Nowadays, instead of doing that, I try to do all the things I would rather do and just get it out of my system. Wether it be watching that Korean drama that you love (me, for reals), catching up on a show you were watching, drinking some coffee while you peruse your Instagram or Pinterest, or finishing up a book that you've been dying to read, just get those things done and out of your system. After that, you could maybe grab your planner and see what needs to get done and what the deadlines are so you can get motivated to get cracking!
